Access to Justice

In period from January 2009 until May 2010, EELC participated as a partner in a project carried out by Justice & Environment (J&E)  - a network of European environmental law organizations - titled „Aarhus Convention – practical meaning for EU Citizens. Promoting and harmonizing access to environmental justice in Europe”.

EELC participated in the activities of the project aimed at giving an overview of the practice of implementation of Aarhus Convention in Member States.

In result of the project, following analyses and reports were provided by J&E:

  1. Report "Access to Justice in Environmental Matters", in which access to justice in environmental matters in different European countries is compared and recommendations presented for unification;
  2. Toolkits for improvement of Access to Justice in environmental matters, according to specific problems in different European countries;
  3. Report about Price of Justice, comparing costs of administrative and judicial procedures in different European countries.
